Al be havin that! Quickest La Liga Goal Ever.

It has been reported today that Nawaf Al Abed of Al Hilal scored the quickest ever goal in football history last weekend when he scored from the halfway line following kick-off in a Fahad Cup match against Al Shoalah in Saudi Arabia. Saudi keepers dont have the greatest of reputations, as anyone who is old enough to have seen a few World Cups will know, but credit where it's due, it was some strike. The goal it stopped the clock at a remarkable 2 seconds, and one has to wonder; Can that ever be beaten?! Check out the goal HERE

But who holds the record for having scored the fastest goal in La Liga history? Well it's none other than Joseba Llorente, now of Villarreal, but at the time of Real Valladolid. With the sound of the ref's whistle still ringing around the stadium, in a match against Espanyol in January 2008, Llorente tapped the ball to teammate Victor and set off on a mad sprint towards the opposition goal. Victor with his back facing the opposition goal, suddenly turned and clipped a delicious ball into Llorente's path (no-look pass, glorious!), with the striker taking the ball down and cooly lifting it over the advancing keeper and into the net. The goal was timed at 7.22 seconds and it is yet to be beaten in Spanish football. Joseba Llorente, take a bow!
