LA LIGA GOALS OF THE YEAR 2010 - Leo Messi, CR9 or Javi Martinez?

They dont really seem to do 'Goal of the Year' in La Liga, and if they do I sure can't find it, so to buck the trend I've gone for a few goals that would be in with a shout. A heavenly dribble and shot from Leo Messi, an audacious piece of skill from Javi Martinez against Almeria and a bullet from Cristiano Ronaldo against Villarreal. Bit of everything in those goals. Pace, power, technique, skill, precision. Top stuff. If you reckon I've missed a sitter and left one out, post it below and I'll stick it in. If it's worthy of course! Cheers.

1. Lionel Messi v Real Zaragoza

2. Javi Martinez v Almería

3. Cristiano Ronaldo v Villarreal

  1. The first goals that spring to mind are Sergio Canales vs Sevilla and Benzema vs Deportivo (because of Guti's backheel)

  2. I also remember Cristiano scoring a fantastic goal where he beat a defender, then did a couple step-overs, executed the fakes perfectly to shrug off the defender and as he burst into the box he slotted the ball into the goal. Do you remember that one?

Anyways, I'd have to say that my favorite of these ones is the Ronaldo one, the power and swerve he puts on the ball is majestic. That ball was unstoppable.

  3. Of those three above, I'd go for Messi's every time.

That Benzema/Guti goal that Jamie mentions was amazing to watch. I remember thinking "did he really just do that?".

Love this Canales goal against Villarreal too:

  4. Matt: Love that Canales goal. Will be interesting to see if he gets many games next year with Mourinho.

Gutis backheel would have to win best assist, closely followed by something similar from Jesus Navas when he set up Negredo.
